UCDEI Offers Additional Safe Zone Training
Oct 20, 2020 12:00 AM
What are Safe Zone trainings?
Safe Zone trainings are opportunities to learn about LGBTQ+ identities, gender, and sexuality, and examine prejudice, assumptions, and privilege. Safe Zone trainings also offer an opportunity to learn how to communicate to others an openness toward talking about and being supportive of LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning +) individuals and identities.
The initial training will begin with a 2-hour workshop, which will then be followed up with supplemental workshops to provide a comprehensive training experience. Individuals completing the initial workshop along with the additional sessions will receive a certificate of completion (more information on this will be provided during the initial workshop).
Any current faculty, staff or student seeking to become a recognized SafeZone Ally may register for one of these workshops. Both sessions are offered virtually on Friday, November 6, 2020; 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Seating is limited for both sessions. Online registration for the workshops is now open.
